Skinners Lane Review / Interview

At first listen to Skinner’s Lane, you are hit with the heavy rock inspired sound, that one would often associate with the likes of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, or the rock movement of the 70s… but don't be fooled, there is more to this band than the heavy guitar riffs and Ian Curtis like crooning. There is a certain profoundness to the lyrics and the carefully constructed melody that keeps you hooked to the sound.

To My Face is a raw and emotional song. The fast paced and reminiscent punk rock vibe combined with Zak Langfords raw and untamed vocals provide for a wild listening experience. The layered instruments create an even harsher sound while the contemporary lyrics expose the true nature of human beings and how society has taught us to judge or be judged. The chorus says “say it to my face” which many people don't do as they are afraid. Towards the end of the song, a guitar solo replaces the voice to create a melodic instrumental and it creates a new layer on the song all together. The solo was a needed aspect of the song, and Skinner’s Lane did not disappoint. Drummer James Kerr keeps the song moving forwards in an intoxicating manner.

All of you I'm sure, have been on a wild night out, in a foreign place where you don't know many people. Dear Brighton talks about the emotions behind putting yourself out there in a new place.

The opening riff is one that you can get caught in the trap of humming for days, but not entirely minding about. The lead singer Zak shows us a softer side to his personality and vocals with the soft and mellifluous sound. The song itself represents a night out. It starts of at a slower pace to match that as the preparation to go out. Throughout the song it gets faster to show the night out, but towards the end it slows down and this represents the coming down after the high. The bridge creates a needed pause and adds a layer of sophistication to the song. The carefully constructed bass line by Rob Holland keeps the listener spellbind and seduced.

The two songs, although melodically similar, are in two different ballparks. Dear Brighton to me comes form a more self conscious Musician then that of the writer of to my face, even though they are written by the same person. The difference in the themes for the songs shows an acceptance for who the band is and who they used to be, which for the audience is a wonderful thing to hear. Music is an art and at the end of the day not everyone is going to like it. To really make it as a Musician you have to believe in yourselves, which is what Skinner’s Lane has managed to achieve.

Overall, the band Skinner’s Lane is on the rise and is one to watch out for. If you are feeling Low, pop on Dear Brighton and you will be alright in no time. If you feel defiant then the anthem for you is to my face. I'm looking forward towards the bright future that is and always will be Skinner’s Lane.

Skinner’s Lane Interview

1. How do you know The Old School Project?

I found out about Old School Project through a friend of mine, Jacob Solarek, whose band, ‘The Cubes,’ got a really awesome EP review. I ended up looking at the site and loved the ethos regarding supporting and reporting about creative projects going on all across the world.

2. Who are your influences when writing music?

Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys, Jack White are probably my biggest influences when it comes to writing much of the Skinner's Lane songs. However, I listen to lots of different music ranging from Duke Ellington to Wulfpeck. There are also plenty of artists from 60s and 70s that have had an influence on my writing, particularly riffs, such as Black Sabbath, Cream and Led Zeppelin.Living in Liverpool the past three years has also had a profound effect on my music. The city had such a rich live scene so I always try to go out and see live music when I can and it has definitely influenced the music I write.

3. I heard that you are going on a small hiatus, what’s the reasoning behind this?

At the minute we are just taking a break from playing with each other. We’ve gigging regularly since our debut gig on March 2017 and so we just needed a break from playing live so we can come back with newer and fresher ideas than before.

4. Are there any collaborations in your future, and if so with who?

So far Skinner’s Lane haven’t really collaborated with any artists. However I’m always open to working with other people and trying ideas out and it’s always exciting to try new things with different people.

5. How did the band form?

I first met James at Liverpool Sound City back in 2016 but had no idea we were going to end up playing a band together! He then ended up coming to the same university, where we also met Rob. We all loved riff melodic music and ended up starting a band that would

6. Can we expect any new music in the near future?

Absolutely! Keep your eyes pealed on any of the Skinner’s Lane website and social media in the next few months, we have some very exciting things to come.

7. Are you full time musicians or do you have jobs on the side?

Currently Rob, James and I study at The Liverpool Institute Performing Arts with aspirations of becoming full time musicians hopefully in the next few years. Rob has a part-time job on the side and then he also session plays for other artist as do James and myself.

8. What is your ultimate goal with music, fame and fortune or a good time?

World domination! I’d say our ultimate goal would be regularly touring and playing some of the biggest festival around the UK, such as Latitude, T in the Park and of course Glastonbury. It’s important to us that we write and perform music though that is both true to ourselves and the band.

9. Is the writing of the music a collaborative project or is there a certain person who pioneers it?

I pretty much write all the material and bring it to the group and we make appropriate changes where needed. We try the music to be both adventurous and catchy and importantly we try make each song we write stand apart from one another.

10. I love Dear Brighton, care to explain the writing and thought processes behind it?

Wow, really glad you like the tune thank you! It’s one of the first songs I wrote for the band and the first night-out experiences in Liverpool, which has one of the best nightclub scenes around and lots of really nice, great people. This song however was about me being disillusioned with a group of people I had just met and it expresses the feeling of confusion and weird vibes I was getting that night. I tried to make the song forward moving with it’s instrumentation but wanted to give a weird flavouring too, particularly in the bridge, to take the listener in this journey.

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

"Victor Hugo"

The Ides of June

The Ides of June has shaped its sound by combining the tastes and styles of its member's four distinct backgrounds.
With rock solid percussion stemming from that So-Cal/Grunge scene (and just a taste of west coast hip hop) meshed with the heavy, psychedelic riffs indicative of 90s grunge and modern stoner rock you get just half of the sound. Throw in some traditional blues melded with newer blues/rock guitar solos and the thunderous blues rock bass lines (occasionally thickened by fuzz that would make Chris Wolstenholme proud) and you get the completed grunge blues sound that is The Ides of June.

War Twins

War Twins has become known for their dynamic live set full of passionate energy, rock n' roll soul and deep electronics. A growing buzz has taken them from their hometowns on the east coast to a string of successful nationwide tours and their new home in Los Angeles.

The duo was founded by singer/songwriter Gaetana and drummer/producer James Grey.  Beginning in early 2013, the band built a bed in the back of a ‘98 Plymouth Voyager, and promoted their first demo on a tour that took them to over eighty cities. Since, they've performed close to 500 shows across the country to date.

Most recently, War Twins has supported international acts such as Wolf Alice, Alien Ant Farm and Filter, with additional performances at SXSW, Catskill Chill, Slingshot and other festivals.

The Strips

The Strips began their rock n' roll career in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 2013 where they came together due to their love of music and incredibly cold winters, which allowed them to spend hours fine tuning their sound. Starting out as a three piece band which included Trey Sharpe on rhythm guitar and vocals, Steven Greenfield on lead guitar, and John "The Panda" Nichols on the drums. In the summer of 2014, The Strips became a four piece with the addition of Billy Hettler on bass and keyboards. Taking inspiration from rock legends such as Led Zeppelin, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, The Pixies, and The Black Keys, The Strips performed classic "Basement Shows" for their friends and students of the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.  The Strips released their first EP "Welcome to Our Basement" in the fall of 2014 where you can hear their unique sound.

Stolen Thunder

Stolen Thunder is a four-piece alternative rock band formed in Santa Barbara, California, in 2011.  Early influences range from Queen to Metallica to Alice in Chains.
The band practiced for years at Rockshop Academy, under the direction of George Pendergast of Dishwalla. Stolen Thunder went on to win the most votes in a VH1 nationwide music video contest (for dosomething.org) challenging the lack of funding for music in our public schools. No stranger to live audiences, the band has performed at such notable venues as Rockstock 2013 & 2014, the Arlington Theater, Ojai Libbey Bowl, the Lobero Theater, Cold Spring Tavern, Whisky-a-Go-Go, House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe.

Ryder Green

From blistering renditions of blues-infused rock to sublime vintage blues, and everything in between, Ryder Green captivates audiences with his virtuoso guitar and passion for playing. His distinctive tone, infectious original songs and vocals, and attention-grabbing covers ignite crowds of all ages.

He can deliver a stunningly raw emotional blues solo, or a hard-driving rendition of Freddie King’s “Going Down” that has become a signature number for him. Unleashing masterful journeys up and down the neck reminiscent of those that have come before him, he is yet unquestioningly playing from his own heart and soul. In the zone on stage, all eyes and ears become riveted.

Highly intuitive and perceptive, he loves playing off the energy of other musicians. Bringing a turbo-boosted “old soul” vibe to the stage, he’s known for outstanding improvisational skills on the fly.

Ryan Berg

Ryan Berg & The Velvet Ears are an acoustic driven Blues/Jazz band from Dallas Texas. The project began when singer-songwriter Ryan Berg moved back to his hometown from San Marcos, Texas. Shortly after, Ryan began playing duos around the metroplex with lead guitarist, Glen Fleischman throughout 2014 when they met drummer, Charles Alexander. Since then, The Velvet Ears expanded it's perimeters by collaborating with local artists like Nick Snyder, Patrick Smith, Matt McClellan, Kirk Hampton, as well as Austin, Texas band, The Mammoths. In 2016 The Velvet Ears began working with Ken Welker of 13th Floor Music, DFW booking agency. In the Summer of 2017 Ryan Berg & The Velvet Ears were pleased to announce the release of their debut full-length album titled "The Velvet Ears".

BJ Wilbanks

Georgia-based BJ Wilbanks's authentic exploration of love and the pursuit of enlightenment has been referred to as “Back Porch Soul,” fusing the musical roots of Americana, Motown and Delta Blues into an intoxicating blend of Southern Rock.

BJ's solo work explores the intimate, raw, emotional feeling of the gospel, blues, and 70s rock he was raised on as a child. BJ has also been enjoying regional popularity with his band, Gibson Wilbanks, who have opened for artists like Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, and Diane Durrett.

BJ’s gregarious personality is palpable on record, often channeling other charismatic musical personalities like Otis Redding, Sturgill Simpson and current retro revivalists like Leon Bridges. His self-titled album, BJ Wilbanks (released April 28th) captures the refined analogue production qualities of yesteryear, complete with swampy southern bass and Stax-inspired horn sections. It is of a reminiscent of bygone era when music was so good, it transcended genre.

“The best music brings the most unlikely people together,” BJ asserts. “It's music from the soul.”

LOW VOLTS

Three-time San Diego Music Award winner Low Volts is giving the music world a much needed shock to the heart with his fuzzed-out, one-man, dirty blues-rock n’ roll performances. Armed with only a gritty old slide-guitar, thunderous kick drum laden with tambourines and dark, howling vocals, Low Volts creates a thick and heavy sound equivalent to the force of a four-piece band. Great-grandson of a traveling gospel singer who was framed for murder and sentenced to the ELECTRIC CHAIR, Low Volts would not exist today if it wasn’t for a key witness that helped pardon his distant kin in the final hours of his uncertain fate. Doc wrote and published a book about his story titled 'Up From The Depths' "The Miracle that saved me from the electric chair". This is the story that inspired the stage moniker 'LOW VOLTS'.

The Hawkeyes

The Hawkeyes of Pittsburgh PA are one of the fastest growing bands in the Mid-Atlantic region, forging an honest and unique sound with a pure blend of Heartland rock, Rustbelt grit, and Americana soul. The band puts on an incredibly exciting live show displaying a full-throated passionate sound, unforgettable songs, and pure rock n roll swagger.

The Hawkeyes have logged thousands of miles nationally for the past 4 years and have shared stages with such household names such as Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Marcy Playground, Lit, Blackberry Smoke, Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), Bob Mould (Husker Du), Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real, The Clarks, Bonnie Bishop, Puddle of Mudd, Two Cow Garage and Wild Adriatic.

The Hawkeyes are currently working on their 3rd full-length record with acclaimed producer Sean McDonald at Red Medicine Recording Studio (the Clarks, the Damnwells, Cowboy Junkies).

Kenny Hada & The Others

The four brave souls that make up Kenny Hada and The Others were brought together by the passion and drive of their fearless leader, Kenny Hada. After years of observation Kenny came to the conclusion that he had something to say and that if he was going to say it loud enough he needed a select group of talented and likewise driven individuals. After scouring his vast network of artists and players, each possessing a supernatural gift to make music he scraped the bottom of the barrel and came up with The Others.

Bob Green

Born in Birmingham Alabama, Bob's Family relocted to Mobile when he was 3. This surrounding led to a southern rock influence, a love of good food, people, and the gulf. Bob returned to Birmingham for college and heard a lot of the great bands from that area. After college he moved to Orlando Florida and with help of good friend Scott Tyler, Bob released his first album "Diamonds and Dead Roses", a blend of country, blues, and rock.

In 2005, at age seventeen, Nicholas released his first official self-produced album entitled "This Life". With an interest in production as well as songwriting, he attended the Studio Production program at the conservatory of music at Purchase College.

The Quixote Project

We are a neo-roots music outfit. From Rock to Rockabilly, Bluegrass to Blues we like to pull from traditional genres to blur the fine lines of modern music. "Frontman Jeff Selby and a revolving cast of musicians have distilled the multi-genre sounds of a beachfront music festival into a remarkably cohesive live set, with hints of bluegrass, folk, and rock in a style that would be pigeonholed as “jam” if the songwriting wasn’t so explicitly pop-oriented" says Dave Fox of MUSIC WITHOUT LABELS.

Kileza

KILEZA is an Indie-Pop singer-songwriter who calls the world home. Born and raised in South Africa she's lived and performed in Argentina, Canada, and is now situated in Berlin, Germany.

Acoustic alt-rock with guitar distortion in the right places, at the right time. Like The National on steroids, or Slipknot if they could just stop being so angry. Heavily inspired by cult cinema.

Slow Motion Suicide

We are a four-piece band influenced by the simplicity of the 90ties and huge guitar sounds of modern rock and aspire to establish ourselves in Europe's limelight in the upcoming years. Formed by the vocalist Nicky Ingram, the band comprises of Mark Leossa on lead guitar, Anna Smith on bass and Iggy Krutz on drums.

Future Thieves

Young musicians come to Nashville to chicken-pick and twang. They come to sing about trucks, girls and girls in trucks. Not so with Future Thieves. They came to rock. You hear it in the first seconds of the first track of their first album. Horizon Line, available now on all major digital media, kicks off with a punchy drum intro. Then the band comes in: a quiet verse with urgent lead vocals, crashing guitar chords and thundering bass licks power into the chorus and then it ends suddenly, leaving listeners exhilarated and hungry for more.

Nick Brodeur

Nicholas "Nick" John Brodeur has musical passion running through his blood. His great aunt Jackie Lee broke through the UK Top Ten in 1968 with "White Horses" and sang on Jimi Hendrix's classic debut single, "Hey Joe." As early as six years old, Nick expressed interest in the electric guitar after seeing Metallica in concert for the first time. Within a week, Nick began professional vocal and guitar lessons on his Gibson Les Paul Classic.

Frankie White

Music for me is such a massive part of my life, to be honest its how I cope with what I go through, (the good, the bad & the uncertain) music is infinite and its something that can be loved by every single person the world over, so I say love music feel it, relate and share it.

Anuschka Wright

Bahamian Jazz vocalist, Anuschka Wright, has always been a performer. And thus, like many others, she got her start early on by singing often in church and school choirs. As a child she was a member of The Bahamas National Children’s Choir and took advantage of the opportunity by travelling with the group to exciting cities like Moscow and New York while still in primary school. She considers herself blessed to have had so many varying experiences as a young girl.

Talia Denis

As a teen, Talia’s approach to music is definitely not what you would expect. Her music is on the edgier side of Pop Rock, featuring real instrumentation and catchy hooks, all while lyrically offering a positive slant on life.

Talia already has substantial performing and touring experience. She has played with X Factor’s Fifth Harmony. She also headlined her own regional tour that included, fairs, camps, theme parks and clubs, all to rave reviews. During this tour, Talia also had the opportunity to play with Rusted Root, Deluka and Jasmine Villegas. She continues to perform and will be going on tour again in the summer of 2017

Talia was also invited to sing the National Anthem for The New York Rangers to a sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden.

Andy Jans-Brown & COZMIC

Andy Jans-Brown & COZ*MIC are a 5 piece Alternative Pop Rock Band based in the iconic Australian beach town of Byron Bay. They've just finished shooting and are soon to release their 'Dressed in a woman's clothes' film clip which is staring 7 time logie award winner Paula Duncan and her daughter Jessica Orcsik. 'Dressed in a woman's clothes' enjoyed over a month of being at number one on the Triple J Unearthed 'Indie' Chart.

Candace Bellamy

A physician by day and a soul singer by night, Bellamy took up singing as a hobby 10 years ago, paying dues in cover bands, musical theater (her role in an R&B version of “Porgy & Bess” impressed the New York Times), and with a one-woman show where she told stories of her life in between tunes.

Bellamy’s path led to Ruth Carter (composer for Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Palmer, and John Mayall), bass playing legend Jimi Calhoun (player with Dr. John, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Wilson Pickett, Sly Stone) and Jake Langley (Roberta Flack, Willie Nelson, k.d. lang), who mentored her, and became her co-writers.

Lisa Panagos

Mystical Greek Goddesses were alluring forms of aesthetic beauty moved by the muses to recite inspirational poetry or sing in pure golden tones that reflected the essence of sound. In a reminiscent gleam of these mystical characters of ancient times we find LISA PANAGOS reflecting golden tones in her music. Her last name, Panagos, is derived from the Greek word PAN, who is the God of music. With a name like that, no wonder Lisa has followed a career in music. Already a successful actress and dancer, Lisa is a vibrant recording artist and songwriter, whose music evokes a sleek sensuality.

Ryan Salata

A Native-Texan singer, songwriter Ryan Salata was surrounded with music as a child but didn’t pick up a guitar until his early years of college. Heavily influenced by his surroundings, Ryan draws inspiration from the funky urban sounds of the city leaning toward sounds with a Mo-town beat or Jack Johnson vocals. Ryan released his first EP, Thoughts on Paper, in December 2015 and has received overwhelming response from fans. Ryan continues to tour locally while working on new music for his next release.

Cloverhill

Cloverhill is born out of a collaboration by experienced guitarist / songwriter, Paul Laskey and accomplished producer Grant Henderson, who both have a love of good time classic rock music. With a little help from some friends, including drummer Dogz Johnson, the core of the Cloverhill sound was created. The Cloverhill sound is inspired by the roots of classic rock. We produce our music with vintage amps and guitars. We always endeavour to create a true sound, all valve all loud!!!

Jessi Campo

Jessi Campo’s distinctive and memorable voice plus glamorous attire compliment her heartfelt performances and make her an incredible entertainer with a radiant personality who captures all audiences. Often compared to Natalie Cole and Etta James in her vocal style, she is an indisputably exceptional talent, and therefore she has shared stages with Michael McDonald, Neil Sedaka, Beach Boys and other famous artists.

Brendan Pugh

Brendan John Pugh is an American Singer-Songwriter from Leonardtown, Maryland. Brendan writes entirely from personal experiences in his life, delivering a sense of authenticity to his listeners. He is known for both soulful acoustic writing and bluesy pop-rock ballads that draw an audience to the stage, no matter the venue.

Handsome Midnight

Alternative rock with class, in the vein of Foo Fighters, Third Eye Blind, and Weezer. Handsome Midnight focuses on relevant topics, and an engaging live show that can be enjoyed on a large festival stage, or a classic rock’n roll venue. Formed in early 2011, each member had already been a part of the scene for over a decade, sharing the stage with acts such as Fastball, Bowling for Soup, Throw the Fight, and other established artists. Their focus from the beginning was on a live show that performed as strongly as their album.

Richard The Rock Star

Since releasing the first single and video from the album, Rich has gained a great local following and is extending his reach nation-wide. He is also currently preparing to release his next album and official mixtape with Coast2Coast Mixtapes. As you can probably tell, RTRS is a very serious artist and plans on making it to the top and will not stop until he makes it. "Sit back, and enjoy the show man." -Rich

Better Than Grey

We’re called Better Than Grey and we’re a pop/punk band from Sofia, Bulgaria. We were established in the beginning of 2010  by our vocal Justin Case, Eddie (Bass) and FranX (Guitar) after our previous band split up. We searched for new members for few months and found Fiorelo (Guitar) and Steve (Drums). With this line up we recorded our debut album “No Way Back” in Italy in June 2011. Afterwards in September Steve went to study drums in Netherlands for four years, so we had to find another drummer. Few months later MonX came along and so this is our current lineup.

Neil Taylor

Neil Martin Taylor is a british guitarist who grew up in Bristol. As a teenager, he played in local bands before joining "Neon", featuring Curt Smith (Tears For Fears), Pete Byrne (Naked Eyes) and Rob Fisher (Climie/Fisher). He went on to form "Violent Blue" with bassist Charlie Jones (Page/Plant), later releasing the album "You Gotta Stay Young" with Magnet Records.

Mrs. Hips

Mrs. Hips is a band from the Netherlands with the vocalist Simone Roerade and a trio behind her that surveyed most genres in every which way but found themselves in a smooth, jazzy, soulful approach of playing behind Simone. She’s an exciting lady who used to be the lead-singer of world renown Alto Saxofonist Candy Dulfer but had her hits with her own band “Hips“ in the 90ties with even a nr. 1 hit in Spain. Now we see an experienced unit, Jazzy keys with a streetwise rhythm section, nevertheless with the power of a full soulband, refined and dynamic.

Brent Loveday and The Dirty Dollars

Lead singer and guitarist for the punk rock and roll band Reno Divorce, Brent Loveday puts his charm and storytelling lyrics on display with an acoustic guitar. His songs invoke a bygone era while adding a snarl and a wink. Ranging from haunting to toe tapping, he conjures up music for every mood.

Heidi Burson

Heidi Burson’s story as an artist is one of shared human experience. Very early on, she felt the poignancy of the music of singers such as Etta James and Aretha Franklin. She was struck by the power and intensity with which they expressed the longing, which we all share, for love and acceptance. These influences, coupled with her own life experiences and a generous dusting of wry humor, have helped to forge a voice and style that is uniquely fascinating.

The States

The States. It represents an idea that we are all apart of a community that has the freedom of expressing ourselves through music. Our name isn't necessarily related to the United States or anything necessarily patriotic even though there are those themes throughout our brand. Rather it's more about the representation of the states of emotions we are all in from time to time. Happy, sad, introspective, broken, angry, depressed, or in love, we wanted our music to reach out to everyone.

Hedera

Sharing a collective love for vintage timbres and instrumental variety, digital processing and samples are absent throughout their performances and recordings, instead preferring the likes of reel-to-reel effects and djembe percussion. With a name translating to “Common Ivy” in Latin and a logo representing a new approach to traditional mediums, Hedera’s persona is reflected in their imagery: a vibrant, multicolored ivy leaf. The entirety of the band’s art direction is designed by lead guitarist Anthony Formisano.

GENTE DEL SUR

Mediterranean Trip-Hop, combining rhythms from the Latin Funk Jazz Sou R & B & Reggae with flamenco melodies.

Including the first single "La Gente Del Sur" (Dub Mix) in the American album "Pause & Play" published on June 10, 2016.

The Noble Impoverished

The Noble Impoverished is a wild fire. A sound influenced by bands like The Killers, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and many others

The Noble Impoverished is the creation of two brothers passion for playing music. At the age of 15 and 17 they picked up their fathers old classical guitar and lost control to Rock & Roll. After a few years of playing in Morgantown West Virginia they moved to Connecticut to showcase this raw sound to a larger stage. The bands deep roots in rock n roll drives its intense live performances, their strong melodies colliding with a savage energy that makes their show something not easily forgotten.

NIALAND

A sound so melodic, so soulful, so eclectic and full of passion and purpose…a style so powerful it reaches audiences of all kinds. A style like that is rare, and yet that style is synonymous with the sound of Nialand. Nialand, or Nia which she is most known as, is a style all on her own. Self-described as weird, her gift is creative, full of truth, mixed with some edge and delivered in a plethora of harmonies and smooth tones that is incomparable and sets her apart from many artists today. Influenced by Jazz, Classic Hip Hop, and Soul Music, Nialand puts her heart, soul, experience and truth in her music presenting an undeniably powerful musical experience.

Vajra

Vajra was formed by composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Annamaria Pinna during her self-imposed exile in India. The child of a former monk and school teacher, Annamaria was encouraged to learn about the world around her and to question her assumptions. She believes there is divinity in creativity. Annamaria has a neurological condition called synesthesia, where she attaches color and shapes to sound.

The Humidors

“Everything The Humidors play is given a heavy contemporary spin that splinters dance floors and leaves audiences in a sweaty daze. The band is a well-oiled unit with a polyrhythmic approach that balances short, sharp solos with an overwhelming collective approach.” - J. Jennifer Perryman

Bio...hmmm.  What shall I say?  Music's great!  I really like it...alot.  In fact, I enjoy it so much, that I've spent my life emersed in it.  I've made a modest career out of it, playing and singing in every kind of bar, nightclub, restaurant, and hotel, doing every kind of party or event where music is on the agenda for years.  I'm also in the studio quite a bit, doing everything from original projects, my personal favorite, to corporate backup tracks, radio spots, and jingles.
I play and sing different styles...everything from jazz, pop, and R&B to, well, I guess I should say country since I am from Texas. I like all types of music from all eras, starting with great composers like Chopin, Scriabin, and Debussy.

Sly Fox and the Hustlers

New York's Sly Fox and the Hustlers are a high energy original 4-piece Bluesy Rock N' Roll band with hints of Soul, Funk and a dash of Punk. Established in 2010 the band has shared the stage with National Recording Artists - Blues Traveler, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robin Trower, Burton Cummings (The Guess Who) and Sam Kininger (Soulive), Twiddle and Sean Rowe among others. The band is made up of an all star cast including the powerful lead vocals and blues-soaked guitar of Sly Fox, the throbbing funky bass playing and smooth backing vocals of former Epic recording artist Dylan Storm, the swirling keys of Drew Costa and rounding out the group is the solid in the pocket drumming and showmanship of Sean Ireland. The live show has been described as "Heavy Voodoo Blues over Swampy Funky Grooves" and “an exciting show not to be missed - guaranteed to get you on your feet!"

RAZTERIA

A one of a kind breaking of all rules. Razteria won grand prize in the JLSC 2016 for the song "Once Again" co-written with rapper Rahman Jamaal, from her 5th album "Aventurera" (2016).
