Almond & Olive

Almond & Olive (A&O), comprised of singer-songwriters Natalie Alms and Ollie Davidson, creates inspiring songs that span the folk and Americana genres, while also incorporating Alms’ timeless vocals and the duo’s distinct songwriting. Blended together, Alms and Davidson's voices sound made for each other, soaring and guiding the music through all the ups and downs of these finely crafted songs. The music on their upcoming debut album, called Standing at the Precipice, features Alms mostly on banjo and Davidson mostly on acoustic guitar, while also deploying highly skilled professional musicians, stalwarts of Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music scene, who provide backing throughout the record. The album was recorded at Kingsize Sound Labs in Chicago with incomparable producer John Abbey, who's also recorded the likes of Robbie Fulks and Jonas Friddle. Together A&O and Abbey are creating an impressive debut for one of Chicago's most exciting new bands. To help pay for the album, the duo successfully received funding from a Kickstarter, raising over $10,000 is 30 days from over 110 backers.

Just Seconds Apart

Just Seconds Apart is made up of Sela, Ari, and Alex Poulos—19-year-old triplets who have devoted most of their lives to making music. After learning to play piano at age three, the Scottsdale, Arizona-based trio formed a band at age eight and soon started writing their own songs. Featuring Sela on drums, Ari on guitar, and Alex on keyboards and bass—with all three siblings lending their vocal talents—Just Seconds Apart delivers a timeless pop-rock sound built on irresistible hooks, heart-stirring lyrics, and breathtaking three-part harmonies.

The latest release from Just Seconds Apart, Good to Know,  as described by Atwood Magazine, "is the band’s most intimate and personal song yet.  Not only is it polished and easily accessible, but it’s also deeply meaningful – a trait we can’t say for the majority of music makers in this particular pop soundspace.   'The inspiration for this song came from our own story, making this one very special to us,'  Just Seconds Apart tell Atwood Magazine.  'We were at a time where we saw things we envisioned for our career start to manifest, but for the things that hadn’t yet, we needed something good to know.'"   Atwood Magazine explains, "Ambient and boppy like The 1975’s earlier work or Justin Bieber’s latest, “Good to Know” taps into a refreshing dance-pop vibe rife with inner tension and turmoil. For all its wanting to feel positivity and warmth, “Good to Know” lurks in a dark place. It’s on the other side of happiness, an emotional mindset that longs for relief from its own melancholy and doubt."

You can fing out more about the background of the band on the official website, see their highlights and read some interesting reviews. Also there is social media presence that youo can start ckecking and sharing... First stop facebook page.

GOLIATH

Let your guard down, lower your arsenal

Let's go another round, let's burn it to the ground

Watch it go up in flames if you're not satisfied

Why do we even try, why'd you have to say goodbye

Hey I'm talking to you, I know the pain you've been thru

I love those things that you do

Feel the weight of the world descending of your back

Is there a wall around me, I just can't seem to find

Reload your weapon I'm taking a dive

You can call me Goliath

Wearing David strive

I'll climb the highest tree, swim in the darkest sea

End this calamity, come to reality

Watch it go up in flames if you're not satisfied

Why do we even try, why'd you have to say goodbye

Hey I'm reaching to you, I know the pain you've been thru

I love the things that you do

Feel the weight of the world descending of your back

Is there a bridge behind me,

I'll burn it to the ground

Reload your weapon I'm taking a dive

You can call me Goliath

Wearing David strive

CELLAR DOOR

Am I a victim of circumstance?

Or can I lean on to you?

Present the jury with your defense

Guilty verdict by random chance

Was I replaced with a perfect tense?

Got my time wasted on you

Let's keep those theories for rainy days

She might be telling the truth

So trap me, close the cellar door

I think, I've been here before

Dungeon walls they feel so cold

Torture me with words of gold

Was it sacrifice, lonely paradise

A sullen box of tears

Dirty alibis in a whiskey glass

A lifetime worth of lies... How do you survive?

I turn around and I fall asleep

Cannot stay awake

Why should I shed my skin for you?

Nightmare's coming to play

Thief and a liar, I'm finally sober

Started this fire, I am the motor

Flames rising higher, over my shoulder

Burning desire, but I'm getting colder

REVOLUTION

Free your mind from electrical thoughts

Learn to release what you have been taught

Find me a reason, find me a reason

To fight

Self-absorbed, concieded and blonde

Get on your knees, obey and succumb

This is a reason, this is a reason

To fight

This should be a reason, a reason to fight!

Save your soul, maybe I'm not able

To belong, this is not a fable

Look for more, than some crumbs

Right of your table

Revolution come on,

Revolution, tag along

See the forest thru the trees

Reminisce childhood memories

This is a reason, this is a reason

To fight Is there a cure for this disease

Hurricane rises from a breeze

This is a reason, this is a reason

To fight This should be a reason, a reason to fight!

Does it hurt? Does it sting?

Does it burn from somewhere within?

Lovesick Radio are a Pop/Rock band formed in 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada, borne out of an ever growing pedigree for success. The six- piece unit are fronted by Lead singer Troy Brown whos is joined by Drummer Matt Seskevics, Bassist Glenn Viers and guitarists David Harris and Matt Bores.

They have toured extensively throughout the States in support of prestigious acts like Kid Rock, Bon Jovi, Scott Weiland, Three Days Grace etc . As well as this, They have toured across the Far- East in countries like Japan South Korea and China, including a recent appearance at ChangJiang Music Festival. They have even featured on MTV programmes “My Sweet Super Sixteen and “Bands on the Rise” They have been described as an “ unapologetic arena pop-rock band that you actually want to hear”. This is a fair assessment from a band with an arsenal of well written rock songs that focuses on Love, Betrayal and social disorders.

The band write wholesome music full of Rock ‘N’ Roll attitude coupled with a hint of Honky Tonk and blues influences that bring that much needed swagger modern day rock acts crave.

I will be looking at a few tracks from their back catalogue, before there upcoming LP is released.

Numb Me Up ( Stripped) is an acoustic version of the original hit. This track is a ballad I personally feel is about a man talking about the struggles he finds in a relationship with a loved one. The basic strumming patterns and hushed vocals produce an unlayered track full of melodies.

Tell Me Why is a pulse rating hard rock tune that has Boogie Rock influences . The opening riff adds salvo with slide guitar effects that adds an extra layer to the music .A huge pop chorus blends with the high energy of the music and the defiant message that will keep those fists pumping.

Hooray ( She Got Her Way) shows the band’s blues influences growing. The mid-tempo feel adds a confident vibe to the song’s structure. Brown snarls about a promiscuous woman full of sarcasm with trumpets added in the background and meaty riff that is testament to the musical craftsmanship

Come Together is an anthem that shows how the sounds evolves. This guitar orientated track has a tenacious riff that blends with soulful vocals and tasty breakdowns with a delicious solo that fits in towards the end.

Lovesick Radio certainly deserve more success. It will be interesting to hear anymore capabilities from the new LP.

https://www.facebook.com/LoveSickRadioBand/ The page is encouraging for fans with updated information on concert dates, news , colourful pictures and an opportunity for a livestreaming gig via Stageit.

https://twitter.com/lovesickradio This is another good page for fans with snippets of the band in the studio and information on further gigs. This provides a more personal interaction with followers, which I enjoyed reading.

Band Interview

Could you tell us how you first met The Old School Project?

First I wanted to say thanks for taking the time to interview the band. As for the question; I wish I had a better answer for this but it was through the power of the Internet.

Could you explain to new listeners how you first met? And why you chose to form a band?

This version of LSR really came together after Troy and I ( David) recorded “ Hooray (She Got Her Way)”. We really enjoyed the process and decided to write some more songs together and just see what happens. After that things just started happening fast & we are still playing catch up.

What is the reason behind the name?

The name came from something our old drummer said. He was going through a break up and mentioned how every song he was hearing on the radio was about heartbreak. It was almost like the radio was love sick. We all just kinda looked at each other and said I think we have the name.

You recently performed at the Changjiang Music Festival in China, Could you tell us a bit about that experience?

This was our third time in China. We love the Country and the people. It’s pretty crazy to play for a few hundred thousand people. The people that bring us over and their crew are some of the best people to work with. Plus the crowds are great and we can’t wait to go back! We feel blessed to get to travel to all these different counties.

You have also performed in Japan and South Korea, What is a usual Far- East crowd like compared to a home crowd?

Each country and town are different. But the thing that’s really the same throughout the world no matter where you are is music brings people together. Everyone is there is have a good time and so are we!

Did you get to go sightseeing around the area? And the festival itself?

Sometimes we do! And when we get the chance we definitely love getting out to the city or around the people at the shows. But a lot of the time all we get to see is what we see through the window of the bus as we pass these beautiful landscapes.

Where there any local bands in particular that caught your eye?

There was this band that went on before us in China that was killer. I’m blanking on the name right now! We love catching the bands sets that we get to share the stage with.

You have some dates coming up, could you tell fans what to expect from the shows, and do you have any guests?

The shows are going to be fun with a ton of energy. We are looking forward to getting out with Wayland for a few dates. They are great live !

You have had the privilege to share the stage with an array of musicians like Scott Weiland, Hinder, Three Days Grace, Paramore and a host more, what was it like to perform with them, and who was the biggest influence on the band?

For me Scott Weiland was huge. I grew up loving Stone Temple Pilots and still do. Bon Jovi & Kid Rock was pretty crazy as well cuz those were stadium shows. And I think everyone grew up hearing those bands songs on the radio non -stop.

The band’s latest single “You Should’ve Known” is been broadcasted ON Air  on The Old School Project 24/7.

Liron Single Review / Interview

LIRON RETURNS WITH NEW SUMMER SINGLE “PINA COLADAS”
20 July 2018 (Toronto, ON) – After teasing the track earlier this month, Award-Winning singer/songwriter Liron returns with triumphant new single “Pina Coladas”. Co-produced by Liron and Producers Jeff Mcollough (Shania Twain, Chris De Burgh)  and Max River (Shawn Mendes, Jonah Marias, Sebastian Olzanski) and written by Liron, “Pina Coladas” is a sure-fire Summer hit with a fun and carefree vibe, about escaping your worries and living your life!
“Pina Coladas” is the first new single released by Liron since “I Love The Feeling” in August 2016. The track reached 50,000 views and within the first hour got the hashtag #ilovethefeelingvideo to the third top trending hashtag on Twitter worldwide, passing IHeartRadio’s Britney Spears’ inspired tag #Iheartlovesbritney.  She has amassed over 15,000 followers on Instagram, nearly 6,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 3,000 likes on Facebook.
Since graduating from production and audio engineering school, Liron has been busily honing her craft and developing a strong social media presence, and is now on the verge of taking the pop music world by storm. Her new single “Pina Coladas” is the next step in this incredible journey.

Liron Single Review

Produced by Max River and Jeff Mcullough, one would expect the new single to be amazing, and musician Liron certainly does not disappoint. Piña Coladas is a summer anthem, the interesting edm sounds accompanied by Liron's powerful vocals makes for a delicious and diverting sundowner.

A change from her previous tracks, Piña Coladas is as refreshing and invigorating as its namesake. Liron's past tracks carry the same beat, but lack the power and confidence behind her vocals. Signs of further development in her sound has enabled a more impactful vocal which has allowed the track to reach new highs. The song is incredibly catchy and only needs one listen before you know all the words. Fans of Ariana Grande, Katy perry or Olivia O’Brien will love this single!

A Piña Coladas has everything in it needed to create a cool summer tune. One dash of a smooth EDM vibe, two dashes of hearty vocals, and a hint of romance. Everything needed is covered in Liron's latest track. When listening, you get visions of a tranquil summer's day, you can hear the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore, and can see the frost forming on your freshly made piña colada.its almost dangerous to listen to, all thoughts of a productive work day disappear.

Liron's former music is about yearning for love, but in the new single, there is a sense of freedom which is empowering for many men and women alike. The song promotes happiness with is slick summer beat and many people will find themselves forgetting about the day's woes.

On social media, Liron portrays herself as a sweet aspiring Musician , which allows for a larger audience across all different age groups. Liron posts manage keep the audience interested but not overwhelmed which is no easy feat. Liron's posts are informative across all social media platforms and are definitely worth a follow.

Overall, the latest single Piña Colada by Liron is definitely worth a listen or two. I say kick back, have a listen, and try to resist the urge of making a piña colada. This single is a success, and I can't wait to hear her future music and hopefully some collaborations.

Liron Interview

Good morning, could you tell me how you found out about The Old School Project?

I originally found out about The Old School Project because of a love for music blogs, and a set of

recommendations from friends to view your site.

What bands/Musicians are you influenced by?

I was obsessed with 90s-2000s divas growing up. My biggest inspirations from that era were probably Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera. More recently however, I am inspired by Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Olivia O’Brien.

What was the inspiration behind the title piña colada?

The song Piña Coladas was written first and the title given after. With the songs vacation vibe and carefree message I had to really think about which drink is, to me at least, the best to sip on when on vacation or at the beach etc. Personally, that drink was the piña colada.

What's the plan for your future career as a Musician?

The plan, currently, is just to release as much music as I can and hopefully have people enjoy it.

Are there any collaborations in the future and if you had the chance who would you collaborate  with and why?

At the moment no, but I have a few people in mind for future collaborations. My dream collaboration would be Harry Styles. I love his work and his personality is all about caring for the people and social justice which I'm all for.

Describe the Creative process. Is there a certain time or emotion needed to write?

I think, to write anything, there is a certain emotive process to it. For me, writing comes easiest when I'm in a pretty emotional state, whether it is good or bad.

What is the ultimate direction for your music. Fame and fortune or everlasting legacy?

Haha, I mean, that would be insanely amazing but I think my goal isn't to bathe in a bathtub of diamonds and hundred dollar bills. I just want people to use my music as a way to heal or grow. The whole point of this song was to inspire people to be who they are in an overtly judgemental world. When they play Piña Coladas, I want young women to not focus on the idealism of love or the impossibility of perfection, I want the focus to be on enjoying life, because I know it's cliches but life is Super short and there is no time to look back or forward- you have to live in the moment.

How has your music evolved throughout the years?

When I started writing poems I was 11. I transitioned into songwriting when I was 16, and I was in a completely different place emotionally. I was insecure about myself- how I looked, how I acted and how I dressed. I was upset with myself for things I couldn't control but as I got older I realised who I was and that who I am is pretty cool. I think that's when my music took a dramatic turn. That's when I started writing songs like Piña Coladas.

Are you a full time Musician or do you have a job on the side?

I am, as of right now, a full time Musician.

And finally, one that I must ask… are you particularly fond of Piña Coladas?

Hahah, I love this question! I don't really drink but even if I did I doubt I would like Piña Coladas as I hate

coconut. I did have a really nice pineapple smoothie once on a cruise, it was blended pineapple and crushed

ice, INSIDE OF A PINEAPPLE. How cool is that! But no, not a fan of Piña Coladas.

Son of an amateur musician, Sulimar Rass began his career at a very early age performing at festivals and bars in his hometown, Dom Pedrito, in Rio Grande do Sul, almost at the border with Uruguay. Based in Pelotas, he opened the RASS School of Music and graduated in Phonographic Production. 2016 he released "Absurd Conclusions", his first album. Far from the Gaucho stereotype, Rass lyrics are philosophic and romantic, while his arrangements mix Brazilian urban influences and rhythms from the River de la Plata Region. Still waters run deep.

(GF) When did your relationship to music?

I was born in an extremely musical family that has always encouraged me a lot, my father was an amateur musician and until now music aficionado. At the age of fourteen I received my first payment as a musician. Since then I never stopped dealing with music. My life was practically all dedicated to music, living from her and for her.

(GF) How would you define the kind of music you do?

(SR) I often say that my three strongest influences are the Brazilian southern folk music, instrumental music (from all genres) and Brazilian popular music, but I am also influenced by jazz, bossa nova, classic, rock. I think the sound I make is universal. It can be played and enjoyed everywhere.

(GF) What about your new album "Canções Inerentes" (Inherent Songs)?

It will be released on all digital platforms in September 2018 and in physical format in October. It is heavily influenced by rhythms and themes pertinent to the region southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina with modern arrangements and strong jazz and classic influences. I recorded part of it in Argentina, produced by Sebastián Perkal, winner of a Latin Grammy in 2010. The musical production is signed by composer and arranger Edu Martins. Edu has worked as a musician, producer and arranger over the last few decades alongside Brazilian music artists such as Cesar Mariano, Guinga, Milton Nascimento and Gal Costa, among others and also international artists like George Benson and Dave Liebman. In addition to Edu Martins, the pianist Mauro Filho takes part in the album. Mauro is a member of Edu Martins Trio and has performed with saxophonist David Lieberman, Débora Blando and Geraldo Flach. Mariano Cantero was in charge of the percussions. Mariano is also a teacher at the La Plata Graduate Conservatory in Argentina. He coordinates workshops in Córdoba, Tucumán, Mendoza and Rosario. He is also a member of the "Acá Seca Trio" and the prestigious percussion ensemble "La Bomba of Time ", directed by Santiago Vázquez.

(GF) Future projects?

After the release of the album, I will dedicate my time to conclude and release my online course for musicians who seek to improve their musical knowledge. I also want to publish my first book. It will be called "The surprises of the alter ego". A compilation of short stories that portray everyday´s life in a humorous way.

Stead Job is an old-school rock band from the metropolitan area of São Paulo, Brazil that hits the road on a customized yellow van called "The Kombosa Submarine" (Any reference to a certain quartet of Liverpool is not a coincidence). These four Classic Rock´n 'Roll aficionados bring a part of rock history live to the stage. I talked to Vanessa Abreu, lead singer and guitar player is responsible for the amazing female vocals. She represents the Pin Up and of the 50´s.

(GF) Characterization is an important element not only of your performance, but it seems to be part of the very concept of the band. Can you tell us more about it?

(VA) We thought of a way of mixing the previous experiences of the members, who had been over 20 years on the road in many bands of different styles. We dress as characters who represent our favorite decades in the history of rock music. I am the Pin Up, with red lipstick, representing the 1950´s aura. I also try to show that there is a place for women in rock. Lêu Abreu, the drummer, is the hippie of the 1960s. His costumes evokes the vibe of Woodstock. Renatera, the bass player is passionate about the 1970´s Groove and Marquinhos Carvalho, guitar player, is a represents the geek culture of the 80's.

(GF) What is the typical repertoire of a show?

(VA) The show's repertoire includes a hand full of classics, hit songs from Led Zeppelin, Queen, Janis Joplin and Creedence, among others. The Brazilian rock is represented by Rita Lee and Raul Seixas. And, of course, there´s also Beatles. Actually, we got the name of the band from the lyrics of "She came in through the bathroom window" and "Paperback Writer". We like to think of it as the perfect soundtrack for a road trip.

(GF) Who is in the audience of Steady Job?

(VA) The band has been together for three years and after almost a hundred shows in the curriculum, we realize that Steady Job attracts both young and old children interested in the sound and the story of rock music. Our motto is "Rock brings people together". I think the elderly have their memories revived and youngsters start to learn about the rhythm and develop a taste for it. Sometimes our fans turn into friends these relationships go beyond show days and come to life in genuine friendships. Last year we recorded a CD with the favorites of the audience. It also included the single "Three Wishes", the group's first composition.

(GF) How about future projects?

At the end of this year, we will record our first EP! We still don´t have an official release date, but I can already tell you that the album is full of love stories, from different points of view. We mixed the melodic styles of folk and powerful choruses of pop, but with a vintage signature, that is our trademark.

http://severedstars.com/ This is account is beautifully designed to match the creative minds of the band themselves with a couple of videos for new fans, as well as a nicely organized photo gallery, which features a category of recording sessions, and another of live gigs. My only criticism would be there is no biography of the group for listeners to understand who they are.

https://www.facebook.com/SeveredStars/ This is another good site from Severed Stars with a lyric video as the band’s background profile pic. I feel this really encapsulates the band's aura, where you will find updates and review of their latest singles, as well as a more informative video section for new fans.

Barefoot Modern

Alternative rock act Barefoot Modern are four young college friends from Boone, California. Yet, this is only the beginning of the story of these talented musicians who came to be. Diminutive Lead singer Tegan Dean started entering talent shows at the age of 8 singing country songs in between soccer practice, her warm vocal range will surprise many, along the classically trained drummer Caleb LeJeune, guitarist/keyboardist Robert Beverly, and bassist Hunter Evans, who spent much of their adolescence learning the stand-up bass, piano, and guitar, respectively.

They started writing at 15-year-old , and soon formed their own garage-grunge band The Bliss Trip, gaining widespread media attention and opening for national acts such as Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Jonas Sees in Color. Caleb would sing vocals, while Tegan joined in on harmony. They soon swapped roles, and before long they formed Barefoot Modern as the four started college, the guys at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and Tegan at nearby Leas-McRae College. Barefoot Modern sing beautiful melodies entwined with a harmonious rhythm section that combine to create an enchanting collection of pop songs. The band recently released debut album “Younger Years”

https://www.facebook.com/barefootmodernband/ This is a nice site that truly shows the band’s bubbly personality. The reader is gripped instantly by the background picture of the band enjoying Christmas. The videos and pictures support this exterior image with a couple of cover tracks including Led Zeppelin’s whole lotta love, plus some nicely shot images of the band posing.

https://twitter.com/barefoot_modern This is another good site that formulates a personal touch..The band share quite a few bits of new from friends, as well as updates of their own. This gives me the feeling that they are inviting the listener into their lives.

Liron New Single Review

Once again Liron wows us all with her silky and sultry vocals. The newest single “Bad Intentions” brings out the powerful person inside us all. The song battles the nature of toxic relationships and how hard it is to walk away from them. It's aimed at both genders as toxic relationships affect us all and the song itself could be hailed as a self empowerment anthem.

Similar to the last single “Piña Coladas”, Liron carries on the fast paced beat and the radio pop sound. However, the story behind the song carries a trace of heartbreak and understanding that was missing in the previous tracks. The powerful story enables the listener to feel the emotions that Liron was going through when writing the lyrics. I'm sure you’ve all gone through a period of time with a certain somebody that didn't feel right or just wasn't working out in general. This song tackles the pain and fear of breaking away form something that you've known and been comfortable with for so long. The mature theme of the song allows listeners of all ages to relate to the feeling of heartbreak which is common during life.

Lirons vocals reach a new high in “Bad Intentions”. I mentioned before that in the earlier tracks, Liron lacked the power and confidence behind her voice, but recently we’ve seen a new side to the vocal all together. Gone is the Musician who once wrote about puppy loves and hid behind the beat of the song, and is now replaced by a Musician who is proud and self assured, who writes about the self emancipation of men and women alike.

Bad intentions includes everything needed to make a great pop song. The vocal compared with the past paced tempo creates the perfect dance track. The softer vocal compared to the snappy Paced tempo creates a layer of sophistication unseen on her previous works before “piña coladas”. The difference keeps the listener induced in a musical coma when the sound reaches their ears.

Once again Musician Liron has gone above and beyond the expectation we had for her next single. Bad intentions sounds like a pop song you would hear of the radio today and overall a Liron has done a great job perfecting her sound. I thoroughly enjoyed the latest single and I'm ready for the next!
